Privacy Policy

Ask Augustus (“we”, “us”) is an SEO content platform that helps site owners research, write, optimize, and publish content. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Ask Augustus website and application.
Information we collect
- Account information. Your name, email address, and sign-in credentials. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. If you enable two-factor authentication, the associated secret is stored encrypted.
- Workspace content. The sites you connect, the articles and briefs the platform generates or you edit, crawl data from your own websites, and settings you configure.
- Integration credentials. Credentials you provide to connect your CMS or analytics providers (for example a WordPress application password or a Google OAuth grant). These are stored encrypted and used only to operate the integration you set up.
- Billing information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store full card numbers; we keep records of your plan, invoices, and usage.
- Usage and log data. Operational logs, audit trails of actions in your workspace, and metrics we need to run the service reliably.
Google user data
If you connect Google Search Console or Google Analytics, we access those APIs with read-only scopes to retrieve search and traffic performance data for the properties you select: queries, pages, clicks, impressions, positions, sessions, and index status. We use this data to show you performance dashboards, to detect pages that need attention, and to inform the content improvements you ask the platform to make. Aggregated performance figures for a page (for example its click-through rate and average position) may be included in the instructions we send to our AI model provider when you request a content or metadata rewrite; raw Google credentials are never shared.
Ask Augustus’ use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data for advertising, do not sell it, and do not use it to train generalized AI or machine-learning models. You can disconnect Google at any time from your integration settings, which stops further access; you can also revoke access from your Google Account permissions page. When a Google source is disconnected, the performance history imported from it is removed from your workspace.
How we use information
- To provide, operate, and improve the service you signed up for.
- To generate and publish content at your direction.
- To meter usage, bill subscriptions, and prevent abuse.
- To send operational notifications you have enabled.
- To respond when you contact support.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your content or your analytics data to train generalized AI models.
Service providers
We share data only with the providers needed to run the service: cloud hosting and storage for the application and your media, Stripe for payments, email delivery for notifications, and AI model providers that process the specific text needed to fulfil a generation you request. Each provider processes data on our behalf and under its own contractual obligations. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Cookies
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not run third-party advertising or tracking cookies on the application.
Retention, export, and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can export your account data and delete your account from your account settings; deletion removes your personal data and workspace content, with limited records retained where the law requires (for example billing records). Disconnecting an individual integration removes the data imported from it as described above.
Security
Credentials and secrets are stored encrypted, access to production systems is restricted, and the connection to the service is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your data we will notify you as the law requires.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy we will update this page and its date; material changes will be announced in the product. Questions or requests about your data: contact support.
